Isabel de la O was born in Madrid, where she graduated (with double specialization in Restoration and Painting) and received her doctorate in 1994 (with Extraordinary Prize) in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid.
From her time as a student she was enthusiastic about ancient and contemporary techniques and procedures and she was able to complete her training thanks to an FPI research fellowship (Madrid, Rome and Florence), and another Postdoctoral that culminated in an invention patent and several publications.
Her work has a great conceptual background combined with a deep technical knowledge.The artist express her own ideas creating her own epoxy resin-based materials combined with pigments, loads, Nepali and African papers, fiberglass and with various disruptive elements.
She is currently a Master’s Professor in Contemporary Techniques at the Escuela Superior de Conservación and Restauración de Bienes Cultural in Madrid and Associate Professor in classical techniques. This allows her to be at the forefront in her field and makes it easy for her to experience new pictorial formulas that include in her creative process.
She has held more than a hundred exhibitions in Spain and abroad (New York, Portugal, France, Italy and Iran among other countries). One of her latest collaborations was the Feria de Arte Contemporáneo ARTIST at the Carlos Amberes Foundation in Madrid in December 2020. From 1988 she has received several awards and mentions, taught courses and, above all, continues to learn and enjoy her work.
